Terms of Service

Last updated: April 9, 2026

1. What This Is

Nassau Tax Buddy ("NTB," "we," "us," or "our") is a web application at nassautaxbuddy.com and app.nassautaxbuddy.com that helps Nassau County homeowners file property tax grievances through the Assessment Review Commission (ARC). By using Nassau Tax Buddy, you agree to these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and the owner of the property for which you are filing a grievance. By submitting the authorization form, you certify that you are an aggrieved party with standing to challenge the assessment on the property identified in your case.

3. The Service

Nassau Tax Buddy provides the following services on your behalf:

4. Authorization to File on Your Behalf

When you sign and submit the authorization form on Nassau Tax Buddy, you are granting Nassau Tax Buddy and its authorized representative permission to file a property tax grievance on your behalf with the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission for the applicable tax year. This authorization is governed by ARC's Authorization Protocol.

Your digital signature, captured via the drawn signature pad on the form, constitutes your legal signature under the federal ESIGN Act (15 U.S.C. 7001 et seq.) and the New York Electronic Signatures and Records Act (ESRA). The date and time of your submission is recorded as the signature date. Per ARC rules, signature dates are not pre-printed — the timestamp of your submission serves as the date you signed.

Your authorization is valid for 120 days from the date of signature. Authorizations signed before September 4 may not be valid for the January 2 filing period.

5. Not Legal or Tax Advice

Nassau Tax Buddy is an informational tool and filing service. It is not a law firm, tax advisor, or licensed professional service. Nothing provided by Nassau Tax Buddy constitutes legal, tax, or financial advice. The calculations, comparable sales data, and proposed values are based on publicly available data and may contain errors.

You are responsible for reviewing the information in your appeal case before authorizing us to file on your behalf.

6. No Affiliation

Nassau Tax Buddy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Nassau County, the Nassau County Assessment Review Commission, the Nassau County Department of Assessment, or any law firm. "AROW" and "ARC" are Nassau County systems and bodies — we are an independent, unofficial service.

7. Pricing and Payment

Nassau Tax Buddy's pricing varies by season:

Payment is processed securely by Stripe. Nassau Tax Buddy does not see or store your full credit card number. Your card is authorized at the time of submission and charged only after your grievance application has been successfully filed through AROW. If filing fails for any reason, your card is not charged.

8. Savings Guarantee and Refunds

If Nassau County does not lower your assessed value as a result of the grievance we filed on your behalf, we will refund your payment in full. No questions asked. See our Refund Policy for complete details.

9. No Warranty

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nassau Tax Buddy and its operators shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to incorrect filings, missed deadlines, inaccurate calculations, system outages, or any other outcome related to your property tax grievance. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service.

11. Your Responsibilities

12. Duplicate Filing Warning

If you authorize both Nassau Tax Buddy and another representative (such as a grievance firm) to file for the same property and tax year, ARC Rule 9.3 may block both filings as duplicates. Nassau Tax Buddy is not responsible for rejected applications caused by duplicate authorizations.

13. Intellectual Property

All content, design, and software comprising Nassau Tax Buddy are owned by Nassau Tax Buddy and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the service.

14. Account and Session Data

Your case is identified by a unique URL. Session data is stored in cookies and in our database. You can return to your case at any time using the same URL. See our Privacy Policy for details on what data we store.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms at any time. The "Last updated" date will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

16. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or the service shall be resolved in the courts of Nassau County, New York.
